The Diversity Committee works to build the INCBA membership’s knowledge of and commitment to diversity issues in the cannabis industry and movement. The Committee is working on creating a diversity network round-table, compiling and hosting a list of cannabis equity programs, and also more formally integrating diversity issues into INCBA CLE offerings in 2020. Issues that are raised at the committee level could include issues of discrimination on the bases of sex, race, or other classification in the cannabis industry, as well as efforts at the local, state, national, and international level to address the tremendous damage caused by cannabis prohibition. The Diversity Committee, currently co-chaired by Allen Paxton and with Omar Figueroa serving as Board Liaison, stitches together the INCBA membership and their collective commitments to improving the quality of legal services provided to the cannabis space by focusing attention and action on issues of justice and equity.
